How much would it cost to “vacation” on Hawaii?

On the island of Oahu, for two months over the summer. I would be staying with a friend of mines, paying for my own food (I don’t eat a lot, and I don’t care what I eat) I wouldn’t be going to “attractions” over this time, and I’d mainly just walk everywhere. I’d be paying for two tickets, one adult and one child.

Well, first, let me say how lucky you are to have a friend that will let you stay with them in Hawaii for 2 months, lucky you! Food is a bit more expensive in Hawaii than it is on the mainland, some things are a LOT more expensive, but just like when you are at home, you can watch the sales and eat for less that way. Easier to do if you are not picky about what you eat. Maybe add 20% to what you spend on food now to be safe? The Bus operates on the island of Oahu, and last I checked it was $2.00. That $2.00 will get you all the way around the island if you need it to, just ask for transfers when you get off. Probably a monthly pass is available.

Activities can be rather expensive, depending on what you want to do. Your friend may be able to get Kamaina rates on some things for you. The Arizona Memorial is free, as is laying on the beach and playing in the ocean. Boogie boards are inexpensive and will give you hours of entertainment if you like playing in the water.

Get yourself a small collapsible cooler, that way you can take water and snacks with you to the beach and when you head out during the day.

Enjoy your stay!

I would like a planned vacation to Ireland, London and Paris all in one crack. Anyone know an online resource?

I am open to all forms of travel.

I am open to all forms of travel. A transatlantic cruise is even a possibility. I have 2 years to save up so my budget is large.

It all depends on whether you want to do it the conventional way or the more fun kind of way.

If you want to make things simple, book a flight to Paris, then fly to London, then to Dublin and stay in hotels.

If you want to have a bit more fun with it, fly first to Paris, then get the Eurostar train to London, then get Eurolines bus to Dublin. The bus from London to Dublin takes 12 hours and includes a ferry ride, but it’s actually very enjoyable. Stay in hostels, or couch surf.

If you’re planning on travelling around the countries, get an Interrail pass, it will make things cheaper and save you having to buy train tickets for every journey. Also, be warned that Irish trains are expensive, and it’s often cheaper to get a Bus Eireann bus to where you want to go. Dublin to Galway is €10.

Also, in Ireland, try a Paddywagon tour – I’ve heard great things about them and you get to see a lot of the country.

For cheap flights within Europe, check out www.ryanair.com, they’re very no-frills, but without a doubt the cheapest way to travel by air in Europe, flights from London to Dublin can be as little as £5 if you book them early enough. Check the website often, as they do deals regularly.

www.couchsurfing.org is something you might want to check out, stay with a local and let them show you their city.
www.hostelworld.com is great for finding hostels, or going the hotel route, you can’t beat www.hotels.com.

Also, www.gumtree.ie is something the Irish use a lot for classified ads, check it out and you might find a lovely holiday home rental for a cheap enough price.

And finally, if you’re coming from the US, www.aerlingus.ie does cheapish flights from Ireland back to the US. Also check out British Airways – you can get a good price if it’s well enough in advance.

If you’re under 26, check out www.usit.ie, you might find some good resources there for travel.

Italian Holidays in Tuscany

If you are taking Italian holidays, you may want to consider visiting one of the most beautiful areas of the world: Tuscany Italy.  This part of the world is famous because of its breathtaking scenery and world-known cities.  These cities are Pisa, Siena, Florence, and Milan, as well as a bunch of others.  You will find a temperate climate, green natural pastures, and many natural growing fruits and vegetables.  There are also many small, quaint towns, Tuscany holiday villas, and several vineyards all over the place.

If you are interested in hanging out in the countryside, you may want to consider renting a Tuscany villa.  There are many available for rent in this region, and many are extremely nice and inexpensive.  If you stay there long enough, they could end up being cheaper than a hotel, especially if you go with a large group of people.  Not only that, you can save a lot of money on food since you can go grocery shopping instead of eating at a restaurant for every single meal.

If you are more pressed for time however, you can also consider doing one of the tours of the region that stops at each city by bus.  These usually include hotel packages, discounts for museums and restaurants, and deals at different wineries and vineyards.  They don’t offer as much freedom as doing your own trip, but they will also make sure you don’t miss any of the major tourist stops.

Some of the most famous things you can see while in this region include the leaning tower of Pisa, the giant church of Florence Il Duomo, and the painting The Last Supper in Milan.  No matter what you spend your time doing during your holidays in Tuscany, it will doubtlessly be one of the best vacations of your life.

When the sun sets in Koh Tao, the island is bursting with activities for the tourists and guests to enjoy. Those who want to party and dance all night can go to the many bars and dance spots surrounding the island. The bars are generally a little more relaxed and a lot less crowded than the bars during full moon parties on the nearby island of Koh Phangan. Those who want to just relax during the night can choose to go to pubs, while those who want to experience real entertainment can visit the cabarets. Whatever type of Koh Tao nightlife you are looking for, you can find it in the island. Most of the nightspots are located on Sairee Beach, the most popular beach on the island.

Queens Cabaret – it is located at Sairee Beach, and holds a cabaret show starting around 10:30pm every night which lasts about an hour or so.
